Every project
leaves an echo.
Where will your echo be?As an ECHO volunteer you don't watch from the side. Through the European Solidarity Corps you join the real projects ArtisA runs for San Nicolas: festivals that fill the street, programs that open doors, three social galleries and workshops all year. Each one needs your hands, your ideas and your fresh eyes, and each one teaches you something you take home.
Real work, real people
You work in projects that run with or without a camera on them, next to artists, teachers and makers.
Solidarity you can see
Young people finish their first artwork, women in prison earn from their craft, a town becomes a gallery.
Learning that counts
A mentor supports you all the way, and you leave with a Youthpass certificate that records what you learned.
Festivals
When the whole island comes to San Nicolas. Festivals are where the street fills up, artists meet their public and the community sees what art can do for a town.
Art Week Aruba
One week, four events. The Mural Festival runs quietly around the week while new walls go up. ArtTable opens it: 150 canvases, 1 painting. Art Fashion puts fashion with a cause on the runway, and the Aruba Art Fair closes with three nights of artists on the street. In 2027 Art Week runs 6–12 September, and the Aruba Art Fair celebrates its 10th edition.
Your impactYou are part of the crew that builds the week: canvases and paint at ArtTable, backstage at Art Fashion, booths, artists and visitors at the fair, paint support and photos for the muralists.
You take home: Event production, teamwork under pressure, working with artists from many countries.

Christmas Fair
A community night on the Promenade where local makers, families and visitors come together before the holidays. This year the San Nicolas Pop-up Market joins in: bigger, better and community driven.
Your impactYou build, light and decorate the fair, welcome visitors, help the makers at their stands and tell the story on social media. This is Call 1.
You take home: Planning and set-up, hospitality, content creation in real time.

Youth Art Fair
Young artists from all over Aruba, aged 12 to 17, show their work to the whole island, often for the very first time. Registration is free and a jury selects the artists.
Your impactYou help young artists hang their first show: preparing walls and labels, welcoming families, and documenting the artworks (never the faces of minors).
You take home: Youth work, curating and exhibition set-up, safeguarding practice.

Programs
The work that goes on all year, away from the spotlight. Our programs open doors for people who rarely get one: young people after school and women in prison.
MiSO · Made Inside, Shared Outside
Since August 2024, MiSO brings creative workshops to incarcerated women at KIA. Mentor artists from Space21 teach embroidery, jewellery and textile. The work is shown at the Aruba Art Fair and Art Fashion, and every sale goes into the maker's own reintegration fund. Luxury, not charity.
Your impactYou support the workshops next to our mentor artists, prepare materials, and help photograph, package and present MiSO pieces in the galleries and at the fairs. Always with our team, and never photographing participants.
You take home: Facilitation, empathy and respect, social entrepreneurship.

Art-X-Plosion
Our youth art program with the secondary schools of San Nicolas. In school, each class paints one large canvas on the Art Week theme; after school, at Filomena College (5 minutes from Casa Arena), young people explore dance, fashion, painting, 3D printing, design and videography with professional teachers. Their work goes on show at the Youth Art Fair, and their garments walk at Art Fashion.
Your impactYou co-lead sessions next to our teachers and bring your own skill: a camera, a sketchbook, a sewing machine or a 3D file. You help young people finish work they are proud to show.
You take home: Teaching and mentoring, creative and digital skills, working with young people.

Galleries
Three social galleries where local artists and makers sell their work. Every sale keeps an artist working, and every visitor leaves knowing more about Aruba.
ArtisA Gallery
The heart of ArtisA on the San Nicolas main street: a social gallery for local artists, with classes in the evenings and on Saturdays.
Your impactYou hang shows, welcome visitors in your languages, keep the inventory, sell art and photograph new work for the online shop.
You take home: Sales and customer care, art handling, inventory, product photography.

Space21 San Nicolas
Our makers' space: craft first, then art supplies, then art. Work by 40+ local artisans, and the place where MiSO makers find aftercare.
Your impactYou tell the makers' stories, style the shelves, help at the till and run small craft corners for visitors.
You take home: Retail, storytelling, supporting small creative businesses.

Space21 Playa
Our newest gallery, opened in 2026 in Oranjestad, brings the makers and artists of San Nicolas to the capital.
Your impactYou welcome visitors, keep the shop running, and send people on to San Nicolas, its murals and its galleries.
You take home: Visitor experience, sales, promoting a community.

Workshops, lessons & outreach
Art as something you do, not only something you look at. Workshops, lessons and outreach take art into classrooms, community spaces and the street itself.
Lessons at the gallery
Weekly courses for adults with two of our teachers: Listen to Your Art with Erika Moran, and portrait painting with Peter van den Heuvel.
Your impactYou set up the studio, assist the teacher, welcome participants and document the classes.
You take home: Facilitation, studio practice, event communication.

Workshops in schools & the gallery
Hands-on creative workshops for schools, community groups and visitors, in the classroom or at the gallery.
Your impactYou help plan and run the workshops, from materials to the clean-up, and you can propose a workshop of your own.
You take home: Workshop design, public speaking, non-formal education.

Outreach on the street
San Nicolas is the Street Art Capital of the Caribbean (Forbes, 2019), with 80+ murals. Aruba Mural Tours walk visitors past 95+ murals all year, and our outreach brings art into the neighbourhood.
Your impactYou help tell the story of San Nicolas, wall by wall: supporting tours, photographing murals and helping community activities.
You take home: Intercultural communication, storytelling, local knowledge.
